I was born in 1948 and my father Alexander Timofeev was awarded by the Stalin Prize in 1948.

In 1949  were named the  winners of the 1948 State Stalin Prize for outstanding inventions and radical improvement of the methods for the production work.

I received this Prize together with Vladimir Pestryakov (head of work), Vladimir Kudryavtsev and Vladimir Semenov. We received the State Stalin Prize   for the development and industrial production of new special  radio equipment.

The list of winners was published in the "Pravda" newspaper  on 09 April, 1949.

On 25 August 1948 I  received a special letter delivered by  military courier mail.

You have to  arrive for awarding by  the State Stalin Prize.

Some words from  my Dad memories about this ceremony are below:

"...The award ceremony was scheduled for 4:00 P.M. and  We walked through the beautiful lobby with  copies of famous ancient sculptures. (The picture of the lobby in 2012).

We went up by the main stairs to the  Assembly Hall of the Moscow Institute of Architecture.

I took a seat in the back row next to the wonderful old fireplace.

Some  outstanding scientists, inventors and engineers were awarded  by the State Stalin Prize in 1948 too.They are:

-      Mikhail Kalashnikov.He received the State Stalin Prize for  the creation of AK-47 machine gun;

-    Leonid Kantorovich -mathematician;

-   Artem Mikoyan. He received the State Stalin Prize for aircraft design;

-   Nikolaus Riehl – one of the leaders of the Soviet atomic bomb project;

-    Yakov Zeldovich – for the design of a new  nuclear technology...".
